Are the Effects Permanent?
The greatest benefit of neurofeedback is that once you have completed the training the effects are permanent.
Once the brain has been regulated there are very few instances that can reverse the positive changes of training.
Severe trauma to the head (e.g., a car accident, etc.) or severe emotional trauma can sometimes hinder the effects of the training.
The trauma usually does not reverse all the training and in many cases coming in for a few sessions may be all that is necessary.
What About Medication?
Another benefit about neurofeedback is that most people who come in on medications relating to ADHD, Depression, Anxiety,
Sleep disorders and other neurologic disorders either reduce or discontinue their medications completely.
If someone comes in currently taking medication the neurotherapist will advise them to consult with their medical practitioner
for assistance with adjusting the medication as neurofeedback training progresses.
It is the responsibility of the client to discuss this with their primary care physician or specialist.
